              The Vantage View

Do you know why I like my job? Ney, love my job? I love my job because as a teacher I’ve got
the best vantage point to see the most magnificent miracles happening in front of my eyes in the
lives of my students. I get to see little girls and boys grow and blossom into intelligent, creative,
responsible and caring young women and men.

I’ve got the best seat in the house. The vantage point. Far from close quarters I get to see how
God’s work of art unfolds and expands as students move from grade to grade, mastering skills,
achieving goals and meeting expectations. In this grand scheme of happenings I am no passive
onlooker. I am an active participant. Like the alert midwife helping to bring forth. I get to assist a
little child unpack life in all its dimensions. Be it physically, intellectually, creatively, emotionally,
socially and spiritually I get to see it and make it happen. Oh! what an honour is mine. And to get
paid for this privilege, aren’t we doubly blessed.

Like the war in Ukraine, the COVID pandemic left death and destruction in its wake. The trauma
and pain amidst the lockdowns and crackdowns, the on-lines and migrant lines, the dosages
and shortages left us devastated and depressed. Little did I know that my little STUDENTS would
bring me such blessings through this crisis. There were times when I have awoken to a dreary
day with my world falling apart. But, those innocent hearts, glittering eyes and radiant smiles
awakened waves of joy from within me. I found courage and enthusiasm that made my day joyful
and fulfilling. Interacting with my students for a year, here at Montfort, a difficult year at that, has
taught me a powerful lesson that my students are my strength.

My dear students, little do you know how blessed we your teachers are to see how your hard work
at school and at home makes you a better person each day. Believe in yourselves. Believe in your
strengths and abilities. You can and you will make your dream come true. And how fortunate we
your teachers are to see you begin as a seed and grow into a mighty tree. You give us hope. You
be ever hope-filled. Never cease to amaze. And we get to see it all at the vantage point.

With every good wish and the blessings of God

              Sr. Lucia Suting
